How Hiring a Design Coach Can Transform Your Library

Jul 26, 2024

As many of you already know, I'm expanding my Library Design teaching business to take on a more hands-on approach in the form of Library Design Coaching.  It's been in the works for some time now and over the past six months, I've been fine tuning my website and coaching program to fit your needs in the best ways possible.  In the coming weeks, you'll learn more about what all I've been working on, but for now I want to introduce you to how you can benefit from Library Design Coaching.

If indecision paralysis is slowing down your Programming Documents, then Schedule a free zoom call with me today and I'll help you take the next step.

In this post, I'll tell you the 4 things you need to know about hiring a Library Design Coach:

  1. The purpose of Library Design Coaching
  2. My specific types of coaching that I offer
  3. The benefits of working with me, and
  4. My target areas of coaching

WHAT'S THE PURPOSE OF LIBRARY DESIGN COACHING?

One of the biggest complaints I often hear about being a Library Director, Deputy Director or even one who thinks they might be interested in pursuing a Director role, is that they have to know how to do so much and know so much and are often not equipped with the knowledge to wear all those necessary hats.

Having a Library Design Coach to rely on will help you tackle those tasks with confidence.  Imagine having someone you can call every time you need to write an important programming document.  Or being able to email a quick question to your coach when you're not sure if you've written your RFP (request for proposal) correctly.  Maybe you just need a little help working with a contractor that was hired by your Library board or your county officials, when you have no idea how to communicate with them about working around your patrons or installing necessary equipment that you need located efficiently.

Whatever the need, everyone in a Library Director role will benefit from hiring someone that is a very ready-member of their team.  You're only as good as the people you surround yourself with, and having a Library Design coach is going to supply you with the confidence, knowledge and tools you need to do your job most effectively.

But what types of coaching are available to you?

TYPES OF LIBRARY DESIGN COACHING THAT I OFFER

I offer three different types of coaching, which is all spelled out on my website.  But to save you the click, here are the basics to get you started:

  • Small Group Coaching
    • Join a small group or bring your own team for weekly group coaching sessions that last approximately 6 weeks in most cases (sometimes more depending on the need)
  • One-on-One Coaching
    • Work closely with me on a bi-weekly basis for 6 weeks to accomplish your goals
  • Exclusive On-Call Coaching
    • If you need more long-term, hands-on help, this option gives you access to me on an as-needed basis to help you through your project every step of the way and can last as long as you need it to, depending on the project
  • Mastermind Coaching
    • This is a much larger option that is held in a class format (either live or virtual) and takes place at very specific times of the year
