Selecting Good Outdoor Furniture
Sep 13, 2023We all spend ample time selecting indoor Library furniture and all the fine details and finishes that make those pieces amazing. But one area that often gets overlooked or even neglected entirely is the outdoor furniture. In fact, outdoor furniture sites are far fewer than standard commercial. So I've put together some links and options in this week's blog post to give you ideas for what might work for your own Library.

If you're in need of a little inspiration, check these out:
MAGNUSON GROUP
This manufacturer carries all the details you might not even think of like really creative and unique coat hooks, magazine racks, and sanitization stations. But they also carry a few outdoor items with clean lines and durability. My favorite items are their oversized planters. They can be used outdoors but even inside, they can create quite a bold presence. Here's a mix of furniture with planters:
MAGLIN SITE FURNITURE
This manufacturer boasts all North American made and they carry bike racks, metal screens and all the usual patio furniture. But I love this specific collection called Pixel There are plenty of creative color options and the stackable format lends itself to a multitude of functions:
WEST ELM CONTRACT
If you're looking for a more natural and somewhat traditional feel for your outdoor Library space, West Elm, believe it or not, carries a contract line for all your commercial needs. They won't be your resource for all the more utilitarian outdoor pieces, but if you're looking for some beautiful statement pieces and comfy lounge items, West Elm can get the job done nicely.
COUNTRY CASUAL TEAK
This one says it all in the name. If you're just in need of some heavy-duty teak furniture, Country Casual is a good option. They're reputable and well-known.
POLYWOOD
You've probably seen this type of furniture around; especially in applications that require a more durable and weather-proof piece of furniture. Polywood is that wood-like look but with a seriously sturdy construction. It's a bit pricey, but will last forever. So when you consider paying more up front as opposed to the cost of multiple replacements over the years, it could be a good deal for your Library. That being said, naturally budget is everything, so if it's not in the budget, it just isn't. But if so, this may be just what you're looking for.
